I know Declaime likes this one a whole lot. And he should! Not only did he pull off a love song in my work – no mean feat – but he tied together the Steve Hackett and SubLab threads in “My Spare Keys” naturally.
Like “O, the Key!”, the title’s to give more of that poem feel straight off the jump. Also, “Ride or Die” and “My Ride or Die” have already titled plenty of songs.
This song is the fifth song, and third in a row, that isn’t in 4/4. You aren’t going to find many rappers who are ready to deal with that. But his loose, funky style is great for taking longer measures and pouring phrases over them like sauce.
